General Building Consultancy
At Midland Building Inspections, we are qualified and experienced to conduct mandatory building stage inspections as required under the Building Act 1993, Building Regulations 2018 and NCC (National Construction Code).
We work directly with appointed building surveyors, carrying out inspections on their behalf to ensure that all critical stages of construction comply with the approved building permit and relevant Australian Standards.
Our role is to:
-
Attend site at each prescribed mandatory inspection stage (e.g. footing, slab, frame, waterproofing, final).
-
Check that construction meets NCC 2022, the Building Regulations, and approved plans.
-
Provide detailed inspection records and photographic evidence to the building surveyor.
-
Notify the surveyor of any non-compliance so that directions can be issued in accordance with the Act.
This process helps surveyors meet their legal obligations while ensuring builders and owners have confidence that works are being independently assessed for compliance at every stage.
Midland Building Inspections acts as the surveyor’s eyes on site, providing professional, timely, and accurate reports that support the integrity and safety of the build.
In Victoria, the mandatory swimming pool and spa barrier inspection program was introduced to strengthen child safety and prevent drowning incidents.
All private pools and spas must be registered with the local council and inspected every four years to confirm that the safety barrier complies with the AS 1926.1.
At Midland Building Inspections, we carry out independent safety barrier inspections in accordance with the Building Act and Regulations.
Our process includes:
-
Initial assessment of the barrier’s condition, layout, and access points.
-
Verification of compliance with height, gate operation, latch, and climbable zone requirements.
-
Detailed reporting outlining any non-compliant items and clear guidance on rectification if needed.
-
Issuing certification, either a Form 23 Certificate of Barrier Compliance or a Non-Compliance Notice (Form 24), once the inspection is complete.
This service ensures that property owners meet their statutory obligations while maintaining a safe and compliant pool or spa environment.
Midland Building Inspections provides prompt, professional assessments to help make compliance straightforward and stress-free.
